Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen are to headline a concert in aid of the victims of hurricane Sandy today.

Several TV networks will provide live coverage of the event, including NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, E!, Style Network and G4. The show will also be streamed live on NBC.com.

The aim of the concert is to bring together different artists who represent each of the areas hit by the storm. Aside from Jon and Bruce, this includes Sting and Christina Aguilera. Matt Lauer has been brought on as host.

All proceeds from the concert will go towards the American Red Cross, which is currently providing food, shelter and other assistance to victims of the storm.

Bon Jovi has been personally affected by the disaster, as his wife Dorothea and their four children were left stranded in New York due to flooding. The rocker immediately cancelled a promotional tour of the UK in order to be with them.

"There is no power, water, the devastation is off the charts. The president is in my hometown in New Jersey because of the damage. It's like Armageddon" Jon said.
