Jon Bon Jovi accuses Rock Hall board of ‘personal mission’ against his band
Jon Bon Jovi claims that Bon Jovi have been continually snubbed by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because of a vendetta against him.
The New Jersey rockers have been eligible for nomination since 2009 – 25 years after the release of their eponymous debut album – and Jon says they tick every single box to deserve a nod.
However, he alleges that a fallout with “two f***ers” on the panel means that they’ve been overlooked every year.
“There’s guys on that thing that have made it their personal mission to f*** with me,” the singer told Howard Stern. “And that’s okay. I get it – I’ve sold more records than their artists.”
Explaining where the beef came from, Jon continued: “I called him a few choice words, and I’m never shy, when I see him, to call him a few more choice words.
“The criteria is that your music had an influence on generations that came after you, and that it’s still out and very present. We have every criteria.”
Quizzed as to who would argue against Bon Jovi being included, Jon responded: “These two f***ers in the room.”
This year’s nominations longlist includes Journey, ELO, Jane’s Addiction, Pearl Jam, Steppenwolf, The Cars, Bad Brains, The Zombies and Yes.
The top five acts will be decided by a combination of public vote alongside the voting body consisting of 800 artists, historians and music industry figures.
The inductees will be announced in December and the televised ceremony will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in April 2017. They will then be immortalised at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.
