Jon Anderson 'really wants' Yes reunion
Jon Anderson says he “really wants” a Yes reunion to happen and he’s already written material for a potential “great album.”
Anderson sang ‘Roundabout’ and ‘Owner of a Lonely Heart’ with Yes at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction back in April 2017, and his former band mate Steve Howe plays guitar on a track called ‘Now and Again’ on Anderson’s upcoming solo album ‘1000 Hands’.
Having toured with Yes featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman since 2016, Anderson told Rolling Stone the offshoot band are currently on indefinite hiatus.
Asked whether all of this is pointing towards a reunion with Yes, Anderson replied: “I’m very open to it. It’s been 50 years now. You think something has got to happen. To me, a great album has to be made. That’s what I think. I don’t know how it’s going to be made, but the final Yes event should happen.”
He continued: “I’ve talked to a couple of people about it and they get it. I really want to do this. I’ve even written eight songs for the record that I’m thinking would work with a full orchestra and a choir.”
When asked if Steve Howe is also into the idea, Anderson replied: “I don’t know. Maybe he’ll read this article and say ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’ I don’t know.”
Commenting on his time with Yes featuring ARW, Anderson said: “We had a good couple of years. Onstage we were just in it, killing it every show. It was magic. But there was, dare I say it, mismanagement of the situation.
“I love the guys (Rick Wakeman and Trevor Rabin). We’re musical brothers. I just thought, ‘I need to breathe.’ I couldn’t breathe towards the end. It felt like too much weight on me. Also, there was too much of, ‘Should we do an album?’ We couldn’t agree on that. As soon as I said I didn’t want to tour this year and just make my own album, I could finally breathe again.”

Last week, Rick Wakeman announced his last ever UK performances of his acclaimed 1974 live album ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’.
Just like the original live record, the concerts will take place at London’s world-famous Royal Festival Hall on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July 2019, and the Yes legend will be flanked by The Orion Orchestra, The English Chamber Choir and The English Rock Ensemble.
