One-time Mötley Crüe vocalist John Corabi has weighed in on Mick Mars’ claim that the Crüe are heavily reliant on backing tracks when they play live.

Corabi said that was certainly not the case during his time with the band but added that Mars was not a 'bulls----er'.

Mars has said that he was the only member to play entirely live on the band’s 2022 stadium tour, claiming that bassist Nikki Sixx "did not play a single note on bass during the entire U.S. tour."

In an interview with Cassius Morris, Corabi was asked about the claims and said: "Nowadays recording on Pro Tools…if you said to me, 'Hey, can you just give me the rhythm guitar track?' I could literally just go online, highlight that track and e-mail you just that track.

“So as far as the drums go or any of that stuff nowadays with computers and all that s---? Yeah, it's possible. Is it happening? I don't know. I haven't toured with Motley for 27 years, 28 years."

Asked if the band used backing tracks during his tenure, he said that they did for some backing vocals and the orchestral sections of the song ‘Misunderstood’.

“But then Nikki was playing bass, Tommy (Lee) was playing drums, Mick was playing guitar, I was playing guitar and I was singing,” he added. “Now whether or not they've elaborated since — I couldn't tell you.”

Corabi said that he had only seen Mötley Crüe once as an audience member when they toured with Aerosmith a couple of decades ago.

“I saw them that one time, and I haven't seen them since. So I don't know about Mick's claims,” he continued.

“Mick has never really been a bulls----er in the past, so if he says they were using tracks, then, you know, maybe they were. I don't know."
