John Bonham’s Model T Hot Rod from ‘The Song Remains The Same’ up for sale
A vintage Ford Model T Hot Rod automobile once owned by late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham is up for sale on eBay.
The car was built by Andy Brizio in San Francisco, California in the early 1970s and was later sold to Bonzo. The cost of shipping it back to the UK set him back a whopping $4,980 alone (around $24,700 in today’s money).
It made an appearance in the drag race sequence in Led Zeppelin’s 1976 concert film ‘The Song Remains the Same’, entrenching it into rock and roll folklore.
Boasting a whopping 6 litre V8 engine, the car was just one of a number that petrolhead Bonzo owned in his collection of vehicles that included a Jensen Intercepter, a Rolls Royce sedan, a 1967 Corvette 427 and a 1954 Ford coupe, plus a distinctive Union Jack chopper, also seen in 'The Song Remains The Same'.
Led Zeppelin fans who want to acquire the vehicle that still displays its original name ‘Andy’s Instant T’ will have to have extremely deep pockets as it has a Classified Ad asking price of £250,000.
Dudley-based Midwest Performance, who specialise in the sale of used high performance cars, are hosting the sale.
They write in the accompanying eBay blurb: “Being Zeppelin fans ourselves we are very excited to assist in the sale of this iconic Hot Rod.
“Owned by the late John Bonham of Led Zeppelin and featured in the movie ‘The Song Remains The Same’ this is a very collectable piece of Rock history.
