Jeff Beck Talks Rod Stewart Reunion
Planet Rock was on hand as Jeff launched his Rock N Roll Party on Thursday
Jeff Beck launched his 'Rock n' Roll Party' CD and DVD in London last night – and told Planet Rock about his plans to record with Rod Stewart again.
Guests including former Jeff Beck Group bandmate Ronnie Wood, were treated to a 1950’s-themed evening at the British Music Experience at the 02, plus a screening of the DVD.
'Jeff Beck's Rock n Roll Party' was conceived as his tribute to guitar pioneer Les Paul. Jeff told Planet Rock, "I’ve always wanted to do something for Les, to bring the world’s attention to probably the single most important person for the electric guitar". The show was recorded last year at the Irridium club in New York, where Les played regularly until his death in 2009.
Planet Rock had a lengthy chat with Jeff at the BME, prior to last night’s event. As well as talking about his new album, he went on to tell us all about his plans for recording new material with Rod Stewart. "I saw him today, I’ve just come straight from a meeting”, he said. "He’s dead serious as far as I could gather and therefore I’m serious. Because he’s got a reputation and I’ve got a reputation, who wants to mess up? Nobody. Neither of us. So we’re gonna choose material very carefully".
You can hear the whole interview with Jeff in Nicky Horne’s show from 6pm on Monday.
