Japanese Whiskey Company Pays Tribute To The Stones
A limited edition blended whiskey is released
Ultimate Classic Rock reports that Japanese whiskey maker Suntory is to release a super-limited edition blended whiskey in honour of the Rolling Stones.
As well as the bottle being shaped like the famous Stones tongue and lips, the whiskey will be made of a mix of six whiskeys which originate in landmark years from the Stones' career.
For example, the 1962 Yamazaki is in memory of the year the band formed, while the 1971 Yamazaki represents the year the Stones’ adopted their logo. Meanwhile, a 1972 Yamazaki malt marks the year the band’s landmark album ‘Exile on Main St.’ debuted (not so coincidentally, Suntory has used ‘Rocks Off,’ a song from that album, in its commercials).
Others slated to be used in the blend also include Hakushu malt and Chita grain whiskeys from 1990 — the year the Stones made their first trip to Japan.
The Rolling Stones limited-edition Suntory whiskey goes on sale on 30 October. Only 150 bottles (700 ml each) will be made, and each will set you back an eye-watering sum as the recommended retail price is $6,300!
