White's album, Blunderbuss, is released on 23 April and it will be preceded by a single, Love Interruption on 7 February.

Speaking to the BBC he revealed that he only got around to recording his own material in his studio in Nashville because an unnamed artist failed to show up for their session. White explained: "A few months ago, we had a session booked and someone didn't show up, so I said, 'I guess we'll do some of my songs'... It kickstarted the whole process."

Jack White explained that most of the songs on the album were written recently, after that first 'accidental' session. He said of his solo songs: "I only had a couple at first... when you're in The Dead Weather, all four of us wrote songs together in the same room, so I would never write songs on my own for that band."
