Jack Bruce & Vernon Reid Team Up For New Band
Spectrum Road will release their debut in June
Bruce and Reid are joined by drummer Cindy Blackman Santana (Lenny Kravitz, Santana) and jazz keyboard player John Medeski.
According to their Facebook page the band were formed after a discussion between Vernon Reid and Jack Bruce when Vernon was touring and recording with Jack around a decade ago. They bonded over how much they admired the groundbreaking music of jazz-rock fusion collective, Tony William’s Lifetime (led by the late jazz drummer Tony Williams).
The band premiered in December 2008 at the Blue Note in Tokyo before playing some shows in the US last year.
Reid says of the band: "To be able to play and record in this band alongside three of the most creative and stellar musicians in the world is a longtime dream come true. The idea for Spectrum Road first came about in 2001 and it was the ongoing belief in the kind of record we knew we could make together that made it come to fruition.”
Spectrum Road will release their self-titled debut album on 5 June.
