Iron Maiden thank fans for Legacy of the Beast Tour and add ‘here’s to the next one!’
Iron Maiden have released a video thanking fans who came to see their Legacy Of The Beast European Tour.
The metal legends closed their 38-date run of shows at London’s The O2 on Saturday 11th August having performed to 750,000 fans at stadia, arenas and festivals across the continent.
Inspired by Iron Maiden’s comic book and mobile phone game of the same name and featuring an ambitious set design, the tour featured rarities including ‘Flight of Icarus’, the Blaze Bayley-era tracks ‘The Clansman’ and ‘Sign of the Cross’, plus ‘For the Greater Good of God’ and ‘Where Eagles Dare’.
In the newly released video thanking fans, singer Bruce Dickinson said: “What an unbelievable tour this has been, I actually don’t want it to stop. I would like to go on for another couple of months frankly!
“It’s just gone so fast. I can’t believe that we are 38 shows done – three-quarters-of-a-million people played to, and the reviews and the reaction have just been incredible.
“I’m incredibly proud of the band, and the crew that help us and put this whole thing together – an incredible team effort and, of course, the team also involves the audience because we’re all part of the same team.”
Drummer Nicko McBrain says in the video: “I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, you have made this tour absolutely amazingly incredibly special for myself and talking on behalf of the rest of the guys, they’ve all had the best time as well.”
The two-minute clip ends with Nicko telling the camera “‘til next time!”, while Steve Harris adds: “Here’s to the next one!”
