In the wake of the terrorist attack at the Ariana Grande show at Manchester Arena on Monday night (22nd May), yesterday afternoon Iron Maiden released a statement vowing to press ahead with the final three dates on the UK leg of their Book of Souls World Tour.

“We are shocked by last night’s terrible events at the Manchester Arena. Our thoughts go out to everyone affected,” Iron Maiden said.

“We can advise fans that our last three UK shows in Cardiff and at London's O2 will proceed as planned. Of course, any extra means to ensure fan safety are being examined with the relevant authorities.”

Both venues have now released further details of the checks and have told Iron Maiden fans to arrive early and avoid bringing large bags or unnecessary items.

Cardiff Motorpoint Arena wrote: “With regard to Iron Maiden specifically (24 May) we ask all patrons attending to be aware that there will be extra measures in place as a result of the attack in Manchester.

“Please be patient, arrive a little earlier than you may have planned, expect additional security checks, please leave all large bags and anything unnecessary at home or in your car and have your identification ready for the ticketless checks.

“We have already been liaising with South Wales Police and they have confirmed additional resource will be patrolling the city and the externals of the arena to supplement our own patrol regimes.”

The O2 said: “Enhanced security is in place for all events. Please head down early and pack light as we only accept small bags into the area.

“Along with everyone else, we are shocked and saddened by the terrible tragedy in Manchester. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected and their families.”
