Tony's cherry red SG is amongst the most iconic guitars in the world, and in readiness for his band's forthcoming world tour he's got two more on the way.

Birmingham based instrument craftsman John Diggins has just delivered a cherry red SG to Tony and another is currently being built. The models are exact replicas of his original "Monkey" SG, which Diggins originally built for him in 1975 (which is now retired).

Diggins – head of Jaydee Custom Guitars, a family business he runs with sons Mike and Andy – told the Birmingham Mail that Tony wants a collection of the instruments, all given a ‘fatigued’ finish so they look old.

He said: "The guitars keep him occupied, which I think is important. He told me he wants a wall covered with them.”

The original black Jaydee SG became the heavy metal legend’s trademark. "Its probably the most photographed guitar in the world,” added John. "He used it for 30 years before deciding it was time to wrap it in cotton wool.”

To date Diggins has built from scratch three brand new replicas.
