Iggy Ditches Stagediving After Fall
Frontman retires from exuberant stage antics
Iggy Pop has officially retired from stagediving after an audience in New York failed to catch him.
Speaking to Jam! Showbiz the iconic frontman revealed that an incident at Carnegie Hall gave him pause to rethink his energetic stage antics.
"When I landed it hurt and I made a mental note that Carnegie Hall would be a good place for my last stagedive," he said. "The audience were just like, 'What are you doing?'"
Iggy Pop was playing with The Stooges on the band’s Raw Power tour, which heads to the UK this May for a couple of dates at the Hammersmith Apollo and a slot at the All Tomorrows Parties Festival.
The band also reissue an deluxe expanded edition of their Raw Power album in April.
