Heart confirm plans to celebrate 50th anniversary in 2023
Ann Wilson says they have 'a bunch of stuff planned'
Ann Wilson has confirmed to Planet Rock that Heart have “a bunch of stuff planned” for their 50th anniversary in 2023.
Rising from the ashes of several short-lived bands including The Army, White Heart and Hocus Pocus, Heart officially formed in 1973 with Ann Wilson on vocals. Ann’s younger sister Nancy joined the following year.
Speaking to Liz Barnes on My Planet Rocks, Ann Wilson confirmed that Heart will reconvene in 2023 almost four years on from their last live show.
Asked by Liz if Heart will return once she has finished touring her third solo album ‘Fierce Bliss’, Ann said: "Oh, I think so, yeah. Because next year's the 50 year (anniversary) of when we actually got together and got going. Nancy didn't join until 75, but the band got going in 73.
“So, yeah, we have a bunch of stuff planned for next year. I can definitely see Heart doing something."
In a recent interview with New York radio station 102.3 WBAB, Nancy Wilson revealed there had been a disagreement between herself and Ann over Heart’s touring line-up.
"Heart had a big offer on the table last year for a bigger tour, but Ann wasn't interested in going out with my line-up of guys that we were out with before," Nancy said.
"She has a new line-up of guys that she wanted me to join up with. And I sort of (thought) I don't really know them and don't have loyalty yet for anybody like that."
Elsewhere in Ann Wilson’s My Planet Rocks interview, the rock icon revealed she threw her hat into the ring when she heard Led Zeppelin were auditioning for a new singer in the late noughties.
