Hagar Open To Van Halen Reunion
Frontman says that he would go back if certain things change
Sammy Hagar has revealed that he is open to a Van Halen reunion, but not if the band continues to operate the way that it does.
Speaking to Sgvtribune.com about his Cabo Wabo bar in Mexico, Hagar revealed that he would be happy to reunite with the band which he joined in 1985 and left in 1995 (briefly reuniting in 2006).
"The band broke up in 1995,” he said. "The last record was in '93. Seventeen years and they haven't made any new music. That's crazy ... if it changed and it was like it used to be when I was in the band, I could do a reunion and an album, but not under these circumstances."
It’s not really very clear what circumstances he’s referring to, but it’s possible that the manner of Van Halen’s pretty brutal ditching of Michael Anthony – friend and bandmate of Hagar in Chickenfoot – would have something to do with it.
In the meantime Hagar is scheduled to play a solo show in San Bernardino, CA on Thursday, and the excellent Chickenfoot, release brand new live DVD, Get Your Buzz On Live, on 26 April.
