Guns N’ Roses’ Not In This Lifetime… Tour grosses £178million in less than a year
Guns N’ Roses’ sprawling Not In This Lifetime… Tour is set to become one of the highest grossing concert tours in history.
According to newly published figures by Billboard, Axl, Slash, Duff and co. have grossed an incredible $230million (£178million) since the tour kicked off at The Troubadour in West Hollywood on 1st April 2016.
Last year alone, the band amassed gate receipts of $192million (£149million) and since then they’ve earned a further $38million (£29million) from their massive stadium shows in New Zealand and Australia in February.
Over a ten-month period from April 2016 to February 2017, 2,148,843 Guns N’ Roses fans have witnessed the band in all their resplendent live glory.
Incredibly, Guns N’ Roses’ current tally doesn’t feature the eight Asian shows they’ve performed in Japan, Singapore, Thailand and United Arab Emirates so far this year. The figures for those shows are yet to be reported.
It also doesn’t include the 40 upcoming stadium shows that Guns N’ Roses are performing across three continents throughout this year.
The European leg kicks off at Ireland’s Slane Castle on Saturday 27th May and includes two nights at London Stadium before wrapping up in July. Following shows in the US and Canada from July through to September, Guns N’ Roses conclude their touring plans with two dates in Brazil and a final date at Chile’s Estadio Nacional in the autumn.
Despite their staggering success, Guns N’ Roses have some way to go to beat the most lucrative tour of all time, U2’s three-year U2 360° Tour, which grossed a phenomenal $736million (£571million).
They will, however, be comfortably within the Top 10 highest grossing tours of all time by the time the year’s out.
