Guns N’ Roses detained at Canadian border for gun possession
Axl Rose has revealed that Guns N’ Roses were detained at the Canadian border over the weekend for gun possession.
Regaling the story to the 50,000 strong crowd at Toronto’s Rogers Centre on Saturday night (16th July) shortly before the band launched into the aptly titled ‘Out Ta Get Me’, Axl said “we found a gun” amongst the gear as they were crossing the border.
“So we weren’t exactly arrested, we were detained,” Axl said in front of the audience.
“(The customs officers) were very nice. They were very nice. They were very understanding. You know, it happens -- you can forget you had a f***in’ gun.”
Laughing, he then shrugged: “Wasn’t my gun.”
A representative for the band has confirmed to Billboard that the gun didn’t belong to any member of Guns N’ Roses.
They said: “Yes, this indeed happened on Friday, July 15, as they were crossing the border coming from the Philadelphia tour stop on the 14th.”
The gig in Toronto was the only Canada date on the North American leg of Guns N’ Roses’ sprawling Not In This Lifetime Tour that continues right up until the end of August.
They then play dates in South America throughout the autumn. Sadly, there is still no news of any UK shows.
