The Guns N’ Roses frontman, who filled in for Brian Johnson on the final two legs of AC/DC’s Rock or Bust World Tour last year, appeared on stage 18 songs into Billy Joel’s set to belt out the Australian band’s seminal classic ‘Highway To Hell’.

Later, during the five-song encore, Axl emerged once again to sing Billy Joel’s 1978 song ‘Big Shot’.

Elsewhere during the set, Billy Joel worked a snippet of The Eagles’ ‘Take It Easy’ into ‘The River of Dreams’ and a brief soundbite of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Rock & Roll’ into set closer ‘You May Be Right’.

On a weekend of blockbuster collaborations, last night (14th May) AC/DC’s Brian Johnson and Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant guest performed with Paul Rodgers at the New Theatre in Oxford.

The trio belted out the 1959 Barrett Strong classic ‘Money (That's What I Want)’ with Robert playing harmonica too.

A momentous occasion, the guest spot was Brian Johnson’s first live performance since he was ordered by doctors to quit touring or risk going deaf last year.
