Following the success of last year's event, which saw Ian Gillan lead 3,500 guitarists in a British record-beating rendition of Deep Purple's 'Smoke On The Water', Guitars On The Beach is set to return and attempt the world record.

With the dates set for 5th and 6th September, over 2,000 players have already registered to take part on Lyme Regis beach.

“We have the UK record now”, says event organiser Bernie Fallon, "and this year is looking to topple the figure and challenge the world record on the Saturday of this exciting weekend. It’s an amazing atmosphere, a real family event with competitions and prizes, anyone with a guitar can register and arrive on the beach and take part in ‘The Sand Band’ ...it’s free to play.”

Planet Rock will once again partner with the event, with Darren Redick on hand to help host proceedings. Attendees will also have the opportunity to audition and perform with the Planet Rock Radio Band on the Saturday.

A host of other artists and bands will also perform over the weekend; including a special guest from Status Quo performing Quo hits, in addition to the record
attempts led by the house band; with the likes of ‘My Sharona’ by The Knack to be played.
