The Mirror reports that a frock coat worn by guitar legend Jimi Hendrix on the night he died is likely to sell for ÂŁ25,000 at auction.

According to the report Hendrix accidentally left the grey custom-made coat at a friend's house hours before he tragically died.

Pop memorabilia expert Ted Owen was given the jacket by Hendrix's unidentified friend – an unnamed Lord – in the late 1990s, after valuing his collection.

Mr Owen said: "He said Jimi left the coat and, of course, never came back for it."

He feared his mother had given it to charity, but found it in a suitcase in July and is selling it through his online auction house, The Fame Bureau, on 24 August.

Mr Owen, of Hackney, East London, said he thinks the jacket is "fantastic".
