Bassist Sam Kiszka has confirmed the Frankenmuth rockers have already started compiling ideas for the follow-up to last autumn’s ‘Anthem of the Peaceful Army’ and they want to hit the ground the running.

"We were actually talking, and we all decided earlier this month that we need to do a record as soon as possible," Kiszka told Australia's Heavy magazine. "So, the one thing I can say right now is that you can definitely expect Album 2 in 2019."

Asked if the band are feeling any pressure ahead of laying down the new album, Kiszka responded: "I'm very excited about it. I think that if you think about it too much, then it becomes unnatural, and it's very easy to be caught up in that. So, yeah, I think we're just gonna do what we do, and we're gonna make the music that we wanna hear, and we're gonna grow musically.

“There's a lot of stuff that we're working on right now that's very exciting and very new and we're going places that we've never been before - literally and figuratively. But I think Album 2 is going to be very worldly.

“Touring the world, seeing Japan, seeing Australia, and having all these new experiences, in a way, those sounds of… the colours of our mind get put into the record like that. This only skyrockets our creativity, because we get to see so many beautiful things that we've never seen before. This is a great life."

Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, ‘Anthem of the Peaceful Army’ has proved to be a commercial success shifting 80,000 units Stateside in its first week alone last October.

Last week, singer Josh Kiszka has called for an end to their constant Led Zeppelin comparisons, telling Rolling Stone: “Obviously we hear the similarity (to Led Zeppelin). “That’s one of the influences of ours. But at this point it’s like, ‘Okay, we’ve acknowledged that. Let’s move on.'”

Greta Van Fleet are nominated for four Grammy Awards next month; Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Performance and Best New Artist.
