Gregg Allman has liver transplant

Band scrap Clapton show after successful operation

Southern rock legend Gregg Allman is recovering from a liver transplant.

The Allman Brothers Band co-founder had been suffering from Hepatitis C for several years. He underwent the successful operation at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. " I feel pretty good considering everything that's happened" says Allman on his official website. " I changed my ways years ago but we can't turn back time. Every day is a gift and I can't wait to get back on the road making music with my friends".

Allman's recovery means the Allman Brothers Band have pulled out of their upcoming appearance at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago this weekend.
