Set in a rose-tinted, idyllic 1950s America, the highly nostalgic black & white video presents Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt as highly contented suburbanites who love their families and country.

The video opens with the narrator saying: “Meet Billie. Billie is living the American dream. This is his friend Tré and his neighbour Mike. They don’t know it yet; their lives will soon change forever as they’re about to see the truth…”

As the tune kicks in, everything changes when a saleswoman sells Billie Joe sunglasses that allow the trio to see the apparent real truth – newspaper headlines that read Presidential Address Tonight now says President To Lie To Nation.

With their powerful new sunglasses, the trio then storm the Presidential TV briefing and hold the glasses up to the camera – meaning the whole nation see the Trump-esque President as a zombie-like horror figure.

The video is loosely based on the cult 1988 science fiction horror film They Live, directed by horror legend John Carpenter.

It follows an unnamed man who discovers that the ruling class are in fact aliens concealing their appearance and manipulating people to spend money, breed, and accept the status quo with subliminal messages in mass media.

‘Back In The USA’ is lifted from Green Day’s new career-spanning best of album ‘Greatest Hits: God’s Favorite Band’, which is out today (17th November).

The album boasts 20 of Green Day’s biggest hits “from the dawn of creation” in 1986 to present day. Eight of the songs previously appeared on ‘International Superhits’.

The accompanying aesthetically pleasing album cover depicts Billie Joe (clutching a table tennis bat), Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool as priests against a stained-glass window backdrop that contains references to their previous studio albums.
