Gotthard Frontman Steve Lee Dies

Steve Lee, frontman with Swiss rockers Gotthard, has died in a tragic road accident in Nevada.

According to a statement he’d been fulfilling a lifelong dream to drive around the United States on a Harley Davidson when a tractor-trailer skidded on a wet highway and crashed into him as he stood at the side of the road with his bike, girlfriend and the band’s bassist.

Gotthard are one of Switzerland’s biggest bands, with their last eleven albums reaching the number one spot. They’ve sold several million records and have played with acts such as Deep Purple, Whitesnake and Bon Jovi over the years.

The band issued a statement that said "With Steve Lee, we not only lose one of the world's best rock voices but also a good friend who due to his sensitivity and down-to-earth personality always met the people around him with respect"

They released their last studio album, Need To Believe, in 2009.
