GNR Riot, Stage Collapse & Near Walkout

A typically quiet few days in the GNR camp

A Guns N Roses (no) show in Sao Paulo ended in a punch up between rich people, an idiot fan almost scuppers the band's stadium show and in more bad luck for GNR, a stage collapse in Rio meant that last night’s show was cancelled - just a typical week for Axl and his band.

In the case of the Sau Paulo mini-riot, it seems that either the band were not told about the show or that they just didn’t turn up for an exclusive party which descended into a brawl when the cancellation was announced. You can see photos at the link below (and if you can work out why there is an overweight man painted silver in attendance then please do fill us in below).

The band played at the Estádio do Palmeiras in Sao Paulo on Saturday night, and that concert was almost scuppered as well during the opening number when someone threw a bottle at Axl Rose.

You can see footage of the incident below. It happens about two and a half minutes into the performance.

And then in what’s been a pretty bad week for the band, a stage collapse, which luckily didn’t result in any deaths, forced the band to cancel last night’s show in Rio.

Here’s a Twitter post by Axl:

"The March 14th GUNS N' ROSES show in Rio De Janeiro at Apoteose Stadium has been officially cancelled for this evening due to the stage collapsing because of heavy rains. Stay tuned for more info and possible rescheduling information as we receive it. There is a possibility the show may be rescheduled for tomorrow night, March 15th, or at a later date. There fortunately are no fatalities but there are injuries from both our camp and Rio crews, the extent of which is not known at present. The Rio Fire Dept is evacuating crews out of the venue to avoid further injuries with the heavy rains and winds. Details are just coming in. Also a truck w/part of THE SEBASTIAN BACH BAND's gear has rolled on the trip from Sao Paulo to Rio, what is our understanding several times and we are awaiting details on the safety of the driver at this time. Thank you for your understanding and please be safe out there. Thank you. Axl Rose.”
