Glenn Hughes Talks Black Country Communion

Former Deep Purple man reveals inspiration and what it\'s like working with Jason Bonham

Black Country Communion’s Glenn Hughes has spoken about the formation of the band and what it’s like working with Jason Bonham, who he’s known since the drummer was a boy.

In the latest issue of Zep magazine Tight But Loose, the former Deep Purple bassist revealed his pride in working with the son of his close friend John Bonham.

"It’s an honour to be playing with him. His father helped me so much in my early days in Trapeze and was a real mentor to me.

"I remember being over at John’s house. He would being showing Jason how to play drums John would be going ‘’Like this  put your right hand over the top’’, really encouraging him. Being in a band with his son is amazing.

"I first got to know Jason in what I’d call the dark period way back in the 80s in London. Then I met him again about five years ago when we did a gig together when he was with UFO. I knew his Dad would be real proud of him.”

In the article Glenn also talks about the formation of the band at a gig in LA last year, and how he feels being back in a proper band for the first time since Deep Purple.

"I need for my own sake to be involved in this. I love the variety we have and I like to be in a band that can grow musically. This new line up has a great focus and I have a real desire to stand up and go for it."
