Glenn Hughes releases video message to fans after taking ill with dehydration on stage
Glenn Hughes is pressing ahead with his tour of New Zealand and Australia after taking ill on stage in Christchurch last night (Tuesday 26th September).
The Voice of Rock was two-thirds of the way through his Classic Deep Purple Live! concert at Horncastle Arena when he aborted the perfromance during ‘Gettin’ Tighter’.
Concert attendees said a visibly tired Glenn was unable to stand up and was treated by medical staff at the venue.
Since the show, concerned fans have been flooding Glenn with messages of support on social media, and in the early hours of this morning his promoters confirmed to the New Zealand Herald that he spent the night under observation in hospital before being examined by doctors this morning.
"It was determined that Mr Hughes was suffering dehydration and fatigue. His concert tour will continue as scheduled,” they said.
In the past hour, Glenn himself has released a video message to fans apologising for not making the full show and confirming his dehydration diagnosis.

Vowing to press ahead with his show at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington tonight (27th September), Glenn said: “Hi Wellington, I have arrived. I’m here at soundcheck with my guys and I want to thank all of you for your loving messages.
“Last night was a bit of a hiccup, I had dehydration from not drinking enough water: not to self, Mr Hughes, drink water. So again, thank you so much for your loving messages and on we go. Peace and love. See you soon.”
Following Glenn’s gig in Wellington, he concludes his tour Down Under with dates in Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.
