The Camden venue was temporarily shut on Friday (21st September) and is expected to open in mid-October while structural remedial work at the Grade II-listed building is carried out.

A statement issued on KOKO’s official website reads: “Due to unforeseen circumstances associated with construction works at the venue and the safety and wellbeing of our customers, we've had to regrettably close our venue until mid-October. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Revealing more details about the KOKO closure, spokesperson Larry Seymour said “Our consultant surveyors recently made us aware of structural issue with this 117-year-old building. The protection and well-being of our customers and staff is of paramount importance and we have therefore decided to close the venue while work is carried out.”

He added: “We place the utmost value on our relationships with our clients but we were unable to work around the diary. The nature of the work means that there is no alternative to a full closure.

“We offer sincere and heartfelt apologies to all our clients and customers who have been affected by the closure. Our contractors are working diligently and at all speed to ensure that we are able to welcome back a full programme of events as soon as possible.”

Glenn Hughes’ gig on Friday 15th October at KOKO with Laurence Jones in support is one of a number of shows affected by the temporary venue closure. All original tickets are valid for the Electric Ballroom.

The UK leg of the Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live tour kicks off in Belfast on Saturday and calls in at Bristol, Leamington Spa, Southampton, Cardiff, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester before culminating at the Electric Ballroom.
