Glastonbury Tickets Sell Out In Four Hours

177,000 tickets snapped up in record time

Glastonbury Festival 2011 has sold out just over four hours after tickets went on sale on Sunday.

The capacity of the festival stands at around 177,000, which means that approximately 650 tickets were being sold every minute of the four and a half hours that it took for the festival to sell out.

Unsurprisingly the festival ticket site, SeeTickets, collapsed on a couple of occasions and organisers had to turn the official festival website into a text only page for several hours.

And that is despite the fact that NO bands have been announced yet...

Next year’s festival will be the last before its occasional break in 2012 to let the site recover sufficiently before the festival returns in 2013.

Organiser, Michael Eavis, told press last week that he would announce all three headliners once the festival sold out, so expect an official announcement soon.
