Cream icon Ginger Baker is recovering after undergoing open heart surgery and suffering a serious fall.

Back in February, the 76-year-old drummer announced he was axing all upcoming Air Force 3 tour dates due to ill health telling his fans: “Everything is off. Of all things I never thought it would be my heart.”

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Ginger’s daughter Leda says he has since had a “bad fall” and he’s recently had an operation on his heart.

She said: “(Ginger) is on the road to recovery. After open heart surgery and a bad fall he is miraculously recovering well.

“He called the day after his surgery to say he was okay. Albeit a rather disorientated and unintelligible conversation he was at least awake and aware.

“The fall has resulted in swollen legs and feet which he is seeing a doctor about in the next day or so.

“But although he is recovering any performance in the near future seems over ambitious.”

Everyone at Planet Rock wishes Ginger a speedy recovery.
