The heavy metal torchbearers, of course, called it a day when their End of the End Tour wrapped up in Birmingham back in February – a show that is now being immortalised with The End concert film, which is out on DVD and Blu-Ray today.

On the eve of the Birmingham show, Tony Iommi exclusively told Planet Rock’s Wyatt there could be further Black Sabbath activity in future explaining: “I’m going to miss playing on stage because that has been my whole life, the band and playing on stage.

“I like (playing on stage) and I’m sure it’s not going to end like that; I’m sure we might do a one-off show somewhere.

“It’s just the touring for me – it’s time to stop roaming the world and be at home for a bit... I’m still going to write and put stuff out.”

Now, in an interview with Rolling Stone promoting The End, Geezer said he would jump at the chance of doing a one-off Sabbath gig if the opportunity arose.

"If it were up to me, we'd still be touring now," he says. "It was because Tony's illness that we limited it to 81 dates. I would have gone on forever, if I was allowed to. If a one-off worked out, I'd be on board. Otherwise I'm happy to let things lie."

Elsewhere, Geezer revealed that some solo music could be on the horizon, saying he has “about 120 riffs written down and I've just got to pick a guitarist and sort through them.”

First screened at cinemas across the globe on 28th September, the Dick Carruthers (Led Zeppelin ‘Celebration Day’, The Rolling Stones ‘Bridges To Babylon’) directed film The End documents Sabbath’s final show in its entirety and also features behind-the-scenes footage and interviews.
