Geezer Butler doubtful Black Sabbath will play one-off reunion show
Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler says it’s “not very likely at all” the heavy metal overlords will reunite once again.
Speaking to Planet Rock on the eve of Black Sabbath’s swansong show in Birmingham in February 2017, guitar god Tony Iommi strongly hinted at further Sabbath activity in the future, saying “I’m sure we might do a one-off show somewhere.”
Having confirmed to Rolling Stone in November he would be “on board” for a special one-off Black Sabbath show if it was “worked out”, Geezer Butler has now cast doubt on it ever happening.
Asked about the likelihood of a reunion show of new Black Sabbath material, Geezer told Full Metal Jackie: "Not very likely at all. I think Ozzy is going out on his farewell tour, so that will be him touring for the next two or three years.
“So, I don't think there will be any chance of doing any one-offs or anything like that — which I'm fine with. We went out on a high, and it's best not to drag it out."
Geezer also confirmed that he’s hoping to release a new album at some point, explaining: “I've got, like, 10, 15 years' worth of ideas and riffs and stuff like that that I've written over the years.
“But they're all on different computers and stuff, so I've been archiving all the ideas that I've had. And maybe next year (2018) I'll put them together and hopefully put out another album."
Black Sabbath released their The End concert movie in November 2017, which documented their triumphant final show at Birmingham Genting Arena.
