Gary Moore Laid To Rest
Friends and family say goodbye to the blues legend and say thank you to Planet Rock listeners for their best wishes
Gary is being laid to rest today at a quiet Sussex church with his closest friends and family in attendance, but they have taken a moment to send us their thanks for your condolences over the past few weeks.
Here's the statement:
"The family wanted to say a huge thank you to all the friends & fans who, have sent in messages of condolence, support and kind wishes.
"They have taken great comfort in knowing that thru the Planet Rock "family", Gary may be in your thoughts at this time.
"Gary was extremely proud of the "Blues Power" show he helped make for Planet Rock, and was very surprised that it was thought good enough to win an award. A totally unexpected and humbling experience. He was so pleased that such a simple thing as playing his favourite music, talking a little about it and attempting to illustrate it further with a little piece of guitar playing, could bring such a reaction.
"He was also very happy to lend his support in whatever way possible, during the "fight" to keep the station going. He loved music, listening to it, playing it and talking about it, so Planet Rock was the ideal place to remind him about tracks he’d forgotten about or to hear old favourites.
"So again, a very big thanks you to all, for the very kind thoughts and wishes."
