Four Freddie Mercury artworks auctioned for AIDs charity - PHOTOS
Benefitting Freddie's AIDS charity The Mercury Phoenix Trust
Four non-fungible token (NFT) Freddie Mercury artworks celebrating what would have been the Queen legend’s 75th birthday earlier this month (5th September) are going on sale.
AIDs charity The Mercury Phoenix Trust, which was founded in Freddie’s memory in 1992, has joined forces with digital art marketplace SuperRare to sell the unique artworks.
NFT works by artists Blake Kathryn, Chad Knight, Mat Maitland and MBSJQ will go on sale from this coming Monday (20th September) with proceeds benefiting The Mercury Phoenix Trust.
The collection has been curated by Six Agency. Georgio Constantinou, co-founder comments: “Six was honoured to curate an incredible collection of artists to celebrate the life and impact of Freddie Mercury.
“After meeting with the Mercury Phoenix Trust, we knew that if Freddie were alive today, he would be excited about the creative potential of the NFT space”
Each of the artists worked to a simple brief to create artworks inspired by different aspects of Freddie’s persona. They also had to keep in mind Freddie’s quote: “You can do whatever you want with my work, just never make me boring.”

A non-fungible token (NFT) is a unit of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, that certifies a digital asset to be unique and therefore not interchangeable. NFTs can represent photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files.
