Frampton Sues His Former Record Label
The guitarist is seeking unpaid royalties from digital sales
Ultimate Classic Rock reports that Frampton is seeking potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid royalties from A&M Records.
In the suit against A&M (a Universal Music Group imprint), there’s a specific reference to a $212,000 cheque that was sent to Frampton this year. The amount was "wholly insufficient to cover the actual monies” owed to the musician, according to the lawsuit, and the correct amount is "potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars more than the insufficient partial payment made by UMG.”
The suit is the latest in an increasingly long line of lawsuits against labels by artists who claim that they have been underpaid on digital downloads.
