Foos Go Back To Basics

Band to record new album in a garage

After yesterday’s news that Dave Grohl was to reconvene the Foo Fighters later this year, he has also revealed that the album would be their heaviest yet and would be recording in his garage.

Speaking to Rolling Stone Magazine, the frontman revealed that the band had recruited producer Butch Vig to work on the record. Vig, of course, worked with Grohl during the Nirvana days, and in particular on 1991’s classic Nevermind.

And with the 20th anniversary of the grunge classic rapidly approaching, Grohl is determined to take his current band back to basics in honour of that record – by recording it in analog and in his garage.

He revealed that he had begun demoing tracks with drummer Taylor Hawkins and that the album could even be with us as early as September.

A documentary film will also hopefully be recorded to accompany the album. The film will document the band’s 16 years together and the making of the new album.
