Foos Enlist Lemmy / Queen For Roundhouse Show

Foo Fighters pulled out the heavyweight classic rock legends at last night's iTunes Festival in London.

Lemmy, Brian May and Roger Taylor all appeared at the Roundhouse alongside Dave Grohl and co in a sweltering, hit-laden two and a half hour set.

With support from Jimmy Eat World, the Foo's hit the ground running and didn't miss a beat during the entire show. Kicking off with 'Bridges Burning' from new album 'Wasting Light' they tore through heavy with back catalogue favourites and current tracks alike. Still, their reputation for having the best friends in the business had everyone wondering who's turn it was this time. We didn't have to wait too long for Grohl to introduce Lemmy as the first of the night, being out the superheavy 'Shake Your Blood'.

A dip in energy would have been understandable after the recent run of massive gigs but their gargantuan energy was boundless, with Grohl leaping into the audience at one point and running through the crowd, only to jump on the bar at the back of the Roundhouse and trade a duelling guitar solo on 'Stacked Actors' with fellow bandmate, Chris Shiflett.

The only interruption to the evening came with a scuffle in the moshpit. Uncharacteristically (and to thunderous applause) Dave stopped proceedings to let rip, telling the agitator in no uncertain terms to "get the f*** outta my show!" before slipping seamlessly back into 'Skin and Bones'. But it was up to Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor to provide the final surprise of the night, dropping in for the encore and helping to make 'Tie Your Mother Down' sound more like a Foo Fighters track than ever before. There's a reason Foo Fighters are the biggest and best rock band in the world at the moment. It's not as though they need to prove it, but last night's performance did just that.
