Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee began teasing fans on New Year’s Day when they shared a photo of a microphone in a bathtub along with the caption “Come on in, the water’s fine…”

Alongside this, the wrote the hashtags #FF2020 AND #FF25, the latter of which points towards the 25th anniversary of their eponymous debut album ‘Foo Fighters’.

Three days ago, they posted a black and white image of a disassembled drum kit on a staircase alongside a minute of audio featuring a drumbeat.

Although there hasn’t been any official word from the Foo Fighters, it’s highly likely they’re teasing their as-yet-untitled tenth studio album and the follow-up to 2017’s ‘Concrete and Gold’.

Back in September, Foo Fighters lynchpin Dave Grohl told the audience at Brazil's Rock in Rio festival that the band will commence work shortly.

Echoing this, Taylor Hawkins also told Rock Sound last August that Dave had already laid down some demos and the Foos hope to convene in the studio once they’ve wrapped up their 2019 tour dates.

Asked about new material, Taylor said: "Well, from what I've heard from our fearless leader Dave Grohl, he has a lot of demos that he's worked on and I think we'll start, once this tour is over... I think not too soon after that we'll start the process of putting the songs together as a band."

He continued: "It's a long process, we do a lot of demoing and stuff, but I think that we'll have, I'm hoping, I think we'll have a new record by next year. We should."
