Foo Fighters reveal pop act on Black Sabbath-esque album title track

Leaving fans guessing as to who it might be, names that bounded around the rumour mill included Adele, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.

Now, in a fresh interview with the BBC, Dave has revealed that it is in fact Shawn Stockman from multi-million selling 1990s R&B vocal group Boyz II Men.

After confirming that ‘Concrete and Gold’ is Foos’ “weirdest” record to date, Dave was asked what the weirdest moment of making the record was.

He responded: “The guy from Boyz II Men walking through the parking lot (of the recording studio) and me saying ‘oh dude, will you sing on our record?' And he does on the heaviest song on entire record. It sounds like if (Black) Sabbath and Pink Floyd made (music together).

“It’s the last song on the record mimics crushing riffs and pounding drums with the guy from Boyz II Men – his name’s Shawn – singing like a choir. He built a choir, it’s like 40 vocals stacked together. It’s insane, amazing.”

The track in question is the album title track ‘Concrete and Gold’ that brings the 11-track record to a close.

Making their name on Motown Records, Boyz II Men have sold over 25million records in the US alone and scored a number one hit in the UK in 1992 with ‘End of the Road’.

Despite Dave’s bold claim that the guest pop star was the “biggest pop star in the world”, Boyz II Men haven’t scored a chart hit on these shores at least for 19 years.

Described by Dave as a “gigantic rock record”, ‘Concrete and Gold’ is released on Friday 15th September.
