Foo Fighters tease first new music since Taylor Hawkins' death

In a surprise move today (12th April), Foo Fighters have uploaded a 12 second video featuring an instrumental part of a previously unreleased song.
The video shows a white background, on which the grey words "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" fade into view, before fading out again at the end of the clip.
The punchy clip is trademark Foos, with strident guitars riffing over a mammoth drumbeat, whilst atmospheric chords shimmer in the background.

The internet has already erupted in speculation as to whether the snippet features the late Taylor Hawkins on drums, as something that was recorded before his untimely death, or whether the style is more reminiscent of Dave Grohl's own drumming.
Since the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts, fans have been left wondering who will fill Hawkins' seat behind the drums, with many pointing to good friend Rufus Taylor of The Darkness, or session gun for hire Josh Freese.
Since Hawkins' death in Colombia just over a year ago, the band have hosted the two tribute concerts, but haven't performed in their own right. On New Year's Eve 2022, they posted a message to fans on their social accounts stating "without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward."
Since the start of 2023 they have announced a steady string of live dates headlining festivals this year, and a run of their own shows. Sadly, no UK dates have appeared in the schedule so far.
Foo Fighters lead guitarist Chris Shiflett has been busy releasing new solo material, including the infectious Planet Rock-playlisted 'Black Top White Lines' and recently completed a UK tour.
For his part, when he hasn't been pulling 16 hour shifts cooking for homeless people in LA, Dave Grohl has been sharing the stage with Billie Eilish, with Paul McCartney at Glastonbury, and Lionel Ritchie at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony.
