Dave visited Los Angeles County Fire Station 68 last night (12th November) whose firefighters have been battling the Woolsey Fire in southern California.

As well as meeting and personally thanking the firefighters who are risking their lives, Dave brought his own Backbeat BBQ to the fire station so they could all tuck in.

Expressing their gratitude in a post on Instagram, Fire Station 68 wrote: “It was awesome to get a visit tonight from Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters. He also treated us to some of his own Backbeat BBQ. Thanks Dave! It was excellent!”

A photo on Backbeat BBQ’s Instagram page shows meat being served at the station along with the caption “Dig in! #backbeatbbq.”

Dave himself later tweeted: "To all the @lafd & @LACOFD heroes we met last night...thank you. It was an honor to cook for you."

The Woolsey Fire has so far killed two people as it damaged beach resorts, including Malibu. At least 40 people have died in the Camp Fire in northern California, which continues to rage.

Already the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in Californian history, at least 228 people are still missing in the Camp Fire.

Celebrities who have lost their homes in the fires include Neil Young, Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson, and actor Gerard Butler.

In a blog post on his official website, Neil Young attacked President Donald Trump for blaming “gross mismanagement” and “poor” forest management for the devastation caused by the fires.

“California is vulnerable – not because of poor forest management as DT (our so-called president) would have us think. As a matter of fact this is not a forest fire that rages on as I write this,” he wrote. “We are vulnerable because of Climate Change; the extreme weather events and our extended drought is part of it.”

“Our temperatures are higher than ever here in our hottest summer on record. That has not helped,” he added. “DT seems to be the Denier. (I’m holding back and not using the word liar because it rhymes with denier). It really is time for a reckoning with this unfit leader. Maybe our new congress can help. I sure hope so.”
