Foo Fighters covered 'Let There Be Rock'
There was light. Sound. Drums. Guitar.
What started out as a low-key gig for Taylor Hawkins' cover band 'Chevy Metal', soon turned into a fully-fledged Foo Fighters jam session, as Dave Grohl, guitarist Chris Shiflett, and keyboardist Rami Jaffee joined the Foos' drummer on-stage at the Conejo Valley Days Festival in California.
Hawkins' side-project are usually found covering the likes of Sabbath, Van Halen and Queen, with Hawkins on vocals. But with Grohl on the stage, there was seemingly no way he was going to get away without singing:Â "I'm just a rhythm guitar player in this band, but Taylor makes me sing once in a while. I hate it!" he joked to the crowd.
As well as covering "Summer of 69" by Bryan Adams, "Stay With Me" by The Faces and more rock staples, the chaps also ripped through a storming version of "Let There Be Rock".
Introducing the song, Dave Grohl recounted the first time he'd heard AC/DC, explaining that himself and a friend had been taken to see an AC/DC concert film at the local cinema by his friend's dad when he was a kid:
"They had a concert PA system in the movie theatre. And it was so intense - I'd never seen a band like AC/DC before - and it was the first time I'd ever heard music that made me wanna break s**t!"
