Foo Fighters are reportedly recording their ninth studio album this year
Foo Fighters are spending much of 2017 working on their ninth studio album, claims a festival promoter.
Having already confirmed a series of European festival shows, the band have just confirmed a US date headlining the BottleRock Napa Valley Festival in May.
According to Dave Graham, CEO of Latitude 38 - the entertainment company behind BottleRock - Dave, Nate, Pat, Taylor and Chris are holing themselves up in the studio this year to record the follow-up to 2014’s ‘Sonic Highways’.
Explaining how he managed to book the Foos, Graham told the Napa Valley Register: “Dave Grohl was here in 2013 for the festival and he had a chance to experience it.
“We ended up connecting with Taylor Hawkins, their drummer, last year. We had him on the Culinary Stage and ended up befriending him and his wife, who loved BottleRock.
“Their main agent was also at the festival last year and had a chance to experience it. He became very comfortable with it, what it’s about, how it’s run.
“The Foo Fighters are in the studio all next year (2017) recording a new album and BottleRock may be their only show in 2017 in North America.”
Despite announcing a spate of mainland Europe shows on their titillating website foofighterspassport.com, there is still no news of any UK shows.
Forced to cancel their 2015 slot at Glastonbury when Dave Grohl fractured his leg, bookmakers are predicting they will join Radiohead at Worthy Farm this coming June.
