First authorised biography of Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant announced
The first ever authorised biography of late Led Zeppelin, Yardbirds and Bad Company manager Peter Grant will be released next month.
Released on Thursday 18th October to coincide with Led Zeppelin's 50th anniversary celebrations, ‘Bring it On Home: Peter Grant, Led Zeppelin and Beyond – the Story of Rock’s Greatest Manager’ is written by Planet Rock Magazine contributing editor Mark Blake.
In a first, Peter Grant’s family allowed access to previously unseen correspondence and photographs to help build the most comprehensive story yet of Grant both as a feared and fabled rock manager and as a family man.
According to the publishers Little, Brown Book Group: “Bring It On Home charts Peter Grant’s rise from wartime poverty through his time as a nightclub doorman, wrestler and bit-part actor to the birth of rock n’ roll in the 1950s.
“From here, it explores his pivotal role in the formation of Led Zeppelin and charts the impossible highs and lows of life on the road with rock’s most outrageous band.”
They continue: “It’s the first biography to reveal the truth behind Led Zeppelin’s demise, Grant’s subsequent fall from grace amid death threats and the shadow of organised crime, and his final days as a man who shunned the excesses of the music industry in favour of friends and family.”
The book boasts over 100 fresh interviews with Grant’s family and friends, musicians he worked with and his manager contemporaries.
There are also ‘walk-on parts’ for Bob Dylan, Stanley Kubrick, Freddie Mercury, Elizabeth Taylor, the FBI, the CIA, the Mafia and Elvis Presley.
