Faith No More to perform two shows with former singer Chuck Mosley
Faith No More are joining forces with former singer Chuck Mosley this week for two special shows.
In a video posted to YouTube under the title ‘Chuck Mosley & Friends’, the 56-year-old former vocalist announces they’re playing gigs in San Francisco and Los Angeles together to celebrate the reissue of their 1985 debit ‘We Care a Lot’.
The one-minute clip sees Mosley tell someone on the phone he’s going to be busy for the next few days, before he addresses the camera: “Hi, it’s Chuck Mosley here.
“Yeah, I’m playing the Great American Music Hall on Thursday 18th (August) in San Francisco with some friends… and again in LA at the Troubadour on the (Saturday) 20th with some friends of mine.”
In the background, Faith No More minus Mike Patton - Billy Gould, Mike Bordin, Jon Hudson and Roddy Bottum – then turn to the camera to reveal themselves.
Chuck Mosley replaced Courtney Love in Faith No More in 1983 and lent his vocals to both ‘We Care A Lot’ and 1987 follow-up ‘Introduce Yourself’. He was fired in 1988 for his erratic behaviour and replaced by Mike Patton.
‘We Care A Lot’ has been out of print for two decades and the deluxe re-release this Friday (19th August) boasts the original record with alternative mixes, demos and live performances.
Bassist Billy Gould says: “This was an album that started as a demo before any label had any interest in us. There were a couple of reasons we decided to release this now.
“First of all, it’s been 20 years since it has been commercially available. Secondly, when cleaning out my basement, I discovered the original master reels, and we all thought that resurrecting this from the original tapes would be a great way to reintroduce We Care A Lot into the world.
“Lastly, this has been a band effort – we are releasing this in the same way as we recorded it, deciding everything amongst ourselves and getting our hands deep into the nuts and bolts, just like we used to.”
