The first song to feature new singer Jeff Gutt, ‘Meadow’ is an instantly infectious rock n’ roll tour-de-force and a powerful return to the fray that sounds very much like classic Stone Temple Pilots.

Available to view first on Planet Rock, the song comes complete with a very psychedelic, 1960s-esque lyric video. Feast your eyes and ears on it here:

Having started work with the band in September 2016, Gutt was officially unveiled as the new Stone Temple Pilots singer last month on the same day the band played a triumphant comeback gig at The Troubadour in Los Angeles.

A veteran of the Detroit music scene and a former X Factor USA runner-up, Gutt has spent the past year writing and recording new material in Redondo Beach, California with Dean DeLeo, Eric Kretz and Robert DeLeo.

Eric Kretz comments: “The chemistry was there from the start, and Jeff kept coming up with one great melody after another. We ended up finishing 14 songs, which is the most that Stone Temple Pilots has ever recorded for an album."

Speaking about the inevitable comparisons to STP’s original singer Scott Weiland, Gutt said: “No one will ever fill Scott’s shoes and I’m not trying to – he’s a legend.

“But these songs deserve to be performed and people want to hear them. I’m just honoured that the guys chose me to help them continue to build this band’s legacy.”

Stone Temple Pilots will be playing a string of shows in the US in March, April and May 2018. Fingers crossed there are some UK dates in the pipeline soon!
