Ex-Maiden Frontman Facing Jail

Paul Di\'Anno pleads guilty to benefit fraud

Published 14th Feb 2011

The Express reports that the former Iron Maiden frontman claimed just over £45,000 in disability benefits due to a case of sciatica which prevented him from working.

However, he was caught out when investigators saw a video of Di'Anno - real name Paul Andrews - jumping around onstage in 2006 after an anonymous tip-off.

So after claiming for incapacity, housing and council tax benefits between 2002 and 2008 Di'Anno was told on Friday by Judge Andrew Barnett that: 'Although all sentence options will be open, you should prepare yourself for a prison sentence.'

Di'Anno will be sentenced on 11 March.
