Europe Added To Sonisphere

Band to play on Friday 30 July at Knebworth bash

Europe have been added to the bill of the Sonisphere Festival.

Speaking to Classic Rock Magazine, Joey Tempest reveals that he hopes the huge Knebworth based festival will help raise his band’s star even higher than it already is.

"It’s what we prayed would happen. Headlining Bloodstock last year, and then doing our tour earlier in 2010 obviously has helped to build the band back up. But this is another boost”.

"Right now, all I can tell you is that we’re due on stage at 7pm. I don’t now whether we are on the main stage or not. But what we plan to do is a combination of the heavier stuff from our current album, plus the usual classics. That balance worked really well for us at Bloodstock.”

The band will then spend much of 2011 writing and recording a brand new album following the success of last year’s Last look At Eden.

"We will do the odd gig, but for the most part it’ll be about writing and recording the new album. That might not be released, though, until 2012. We are getting back into thinking a long time ahead, because Europe is getting bigger again, and we have a lot more to think about.”

There are still a few tickets left for Sonisphere, which takes place on the weekend of 30 July to 1 August and will be headlined by Iron Maiden and Rammstein, with performances also due from Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, The Cult and Iggy & The Stooges.
