Taking place at London’s The O2 on Tuesday 3rd March 2020, the star-studded Music For The Marsden benefit concert is being held to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Procol Harum’s Gary Brooker is the musical director for the night and he will lead a house band that includes Deep Purple’s Ian Paice (drums), Paul‘Wix’ Wickens (keyboards), Andy Fairweather Low (guitars), Robbie McIntosh (guitars), Dave Bronze (bass) and Graham Broad (drums).

Performing their biggest anthems on the night will be Eric Clapton, Yes’s Rick Wakeman, Genesis’ Mike Rutherford, Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason, Dire Straits’ John Illsley and Yusuf/Cat Stevens.

Also taking to the stage will be Tom Jones, Bonnie Tyler, Paul Young, Zucchero, Paul Carrack, Mick Hucknall and Paul Jones.

Tickets to the very special concert go on sale from 9am on Friday 6th December. You can get them from Bookings Direct, Ticketmaster, Eventim and AXS.

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity is raising £70 million for the Oak Cancer Centre. Named in recognition of Oak Foundation which has donated £25 million, the centre will replace some of the outdated facilities in the Sutton hospital with carefully designed modern spaces.

The centre will bring together over 400 researchers who are currently dispersed across the site, in areas designed to encourage collaboration and help speed up the development of new treatments, and will house a state of the art Rapid Diagnostic Centre to provide faster and earlier diagnosis for more people, helping to save lives by diagnosing cancer earlier when treatment is more likely to be successful.

Last week Eric Clapton announced a one-off charity concert to celebrate the musical life of his friend and band mate Ginger Baker.

Eric Clapton & Friends: A Tribute to Ginger Baker is happening on Monday 17th February 2020 at Eventim Apollo Hammersmith in West London with proceeds going to Leonard Cheshire, a health and welfare charity close to the Baker family’s hearts.

All 5,000 tickets sold out within minutes of going on sale last Friday.
