Eric Clapton and the late-great B.B. King’s collaborative blues album ‘Riding with the King’ is getting a re-release to mark its 20th anniversary.
Originally released in June 2000 – 33 years after Eric Clapton and B.B. King first performed together in New York - ‘Riding with the King’ featured five vintage B.B. King songs from the 1950s and 1960s and an array of covers of blues classics.
A huge success, ‘Riding with the King’ sold more than 2million units in the US alone and it scooped the coveted 2000 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album.
On Friday 26th June 2020, the album is being re-released via Reprise Records featuring newly remastered audio from the original tapes by Bob Ludwig.
It’s augmented by two previously unreleased tracks from the original recording sessions – a version of Willie Dixon’s ‘Let Me Love You’ and a cover of the blues standard ‘Rollin’ and Tumblin’’.
Both of the bonus songs were produced and mixed by Simon Climie specifically for the reissue. Climie also helmed the original album two decades ago.
